Christmas

The holidays in our family is a little hectic. We have 3 houses minimum we have to visit. We went to my Dads on Christmas Eve. It was a very laid back evening. Ate tons of homemade clam chowder and played some pool.

Christmas morning we had to be at Adams Grams by 7:30 so we woke Katie up at 6:30 so she could open her gifts. She got a playschool car the night before from Grandpa and Grandma Kille and we decided to have it inside for her on Christmas morning.

That was sort of a mistake. She did not get out of it once to open her gifts as you can see

We headed up to Adams Grams to have breakfast and celebrate with his family. Katie got a little guitar that she loves to play. She wanted to be like Mom and Dad when we play guitar hero so Grandpa Weiss bought her one. Now she can rock out while we play.

After we left we came back home to let Katie take a nap, cook for dinner, let Adam play his game Modern Warfare 2 that I got him for Christmas, and I relaxed for a minute we headed off to my moms. We had dinner and opened our gifts there. Katie got a tricycle. She is big enough to ride it but just needs to get the full coordination down to ride it. Once summer comes around she will be riding it everywhere.

She also got a elephant, she has been obsessed with them ever since we took her to the zoo. This elephant walks, flaps its ears and makes noise. It freaks out our cats a bit but Katie loves it.

Now we just look forward to a new year and all the excitement that will come as Katie grows bigger and we have our second child (less than 6 weeks away)

Random stuff

So we are down to the single digits in weeks left, just a little over 9. Overall it has been a easy pregnancy. I haven't been sick at all like I was with Katie but he sure sits lower with makes me more uncomfortable and he definitely is a mover and is really strong. He is going to be a big strong guy like his dad for sure. It sure has gone by fast, maybe because this was a surprise pregnancy unlike Katie. I feel completely unprepared for another one some days. I have loved being able to be just one on one with Katie and now will have to share that attention with another. Also, with Katie by this time I had enough clothes to last me till pretty much about now. But since we are having a boy I have no clothes, kinda nerve racking. I am getting excited for Christmas, mainly just to see Katie's excitement with it all. Last year she just like tissue paper and I am sure that wont change much this year but I think she will be into her toys too. We got a little 2ft tree to sit on a table cause I was to worried she would pull a big one down and hurt herself. Adam has been working hard and the colder it gets the more I worry about him and the more grateful I am for how hard he works. I gave up on trying to find a job till after the pregnancy. As if the economy hasn't made it hard enough to find a job being not to far away from having a baby and taking 6-8 weeks off makes me not the strongest candidate. Well here are some recent pictures of Katie.

The Zoo

On Saturday we took Katie to the zoo for the first time. What a perfect day to do it too. We started off by seeing the monkeys. They were so cute. There was even a baby lemur. It was so small and its mom had it so high up the tree you could barely see it. We then made our way over to the baby elephant. She was so active running around. Next was the tiger. He was walking back and forth growling then he decided to lay down. Katie was so interested in him. She loves cats, probably since we have three.

We went over and saw the gorilla. They have a diagram to show you how you size up next them. So here she is next to an infant.

Here she is next to a juvenile.

She is right in between them.

It was a fun morning. A good start to the beginning of many trips to the zoo.

October 13, 2009

Since its October and Halloween is coming up we decided to see what Katie thought of carving a pumpkin.

She has liked playing with the mini pumpkins the last few weeks but a big pumpkin was a little different. She is fine with the outside but once we cut into it and let her feel what the inside of a pumpkin is like she completely changed her mind.

She was fine with the seeds but the slimyness of the rest of it was to much for her. I hope it was just because of her age and not because she is going to be a girly girl because I will be in trouble if thats the case.

Now she just likes to stare at it with a little candle in it. Maybe next year she will like it more.

Katie has "picked" up a new habit that we can hopefully break her of. Yes its cute and funny now but in a few years it will be a different story. I think she got it from her dad.

Cyrus is growing and doing good. He moves a whole lot more then Katie ever did. I have about 4 more months to go until more chaos but overall joy will enter into our lives. The big discussion right now is what will the middle name be. I told Adam since he chose the first name. By the way that name came about because he had a dream a years ago about what his first son needed to be named. I think since he choose the first I get the second name and I think it should be Jackson. He can go by Cyrus, Cy or CJ. But I guess we have 4 months to figure it out.

Baby # 2

Adam and I are expecting baby #2 in our lives around the beginning of February. We are very excited for our family to be growing. We will just see if we can handle the chaos of an 18 month old and a new born.

1st Birthday!!!

Well a year has gone by. Our little Katie turned 1 yesterday. We went to the Macaroni Grill cause we thought it would be fun for her to make a complete mess of all her food and Italian is easy to do that with. Our waiter was so cool. He brought her out a huge piece of chocolate cake with ice cream and had an amazing singer sing to her in Italian. She loved it. She gets so shy though. She kept burying her face in my neck and would look at him from the corner of her eye. At the end of it she clapped for him. After we went to my moms for cake and to celebrate with some other friends. She got some clothes and the toy thats in her lap in the picture. Its Elmo that she can sing with. She was going through all the songs and dancing to them.
She is now talking more. She will mimc all the noises we make with the cats and try to say all the words we say to her. She is starting to walk a few steps but only if she wants Adam or me and we wont let her crawl. Talk about attitude though. She has already mastered the art of throwing tantrums. I wonder who that comes from.
Happy Birthday Katie!!!

What a great life

The past 10 1/2 months have gone by so fast. Katie is crawling (the cats aren't happy about that), walking along furniture, feeding herself, has 7 teeth and says "mama" and "dada." Its amazing how quickly she is learning and growing. She bring so much joy to our lives. She has adjusted really well going to a sitter a 2 or 3 days a week and hanging out just with Adam on some weekends while I work. I have been loving my new job at the hospital. It has so many opportunities to grow and so many incentives that really help us out. Adams job it going great. He is an amazing designer and is really excelling.

Here are some cute pictures of Katie that we have taken in the last few weeks.

Crazy Life

Nothing majorly exciting has been going on lately just a lot of busy days. I started a new job about 3 weeks ago at the University Hospital that has been keeping me very busy during the days and very tired when I get home. I think Katie has adjusted being away from me better than I adjusted being away from her. She has been having tons of fun at the sitters every day. She knows whats going on when Adam drops her off and she starts to cry cause she is becoming more and more of a daddys girl. By the time he has made it out the door and to the car she is total happy and doesn't care any more that he dropped her off.
Here are two new pics that I just love of her.

Day At The Park

Since the weather has been so nice I decided to take Katie to the Park yesterday. It was a ton of fun. I got some exercise in by walking a couple laps and she watched everything that was going on from her stroller. Then we decided to go over to the swings. She wasn't to sure about swinging at first but once she got going she had a fun time. After being at the park for a while I decided that we would pack up since I had some errands I had to get done. So on our way out there were a bunch of ducks. Two of them had their wings clipped and were really friendly.

So I took Katie over to see them. At first she wasn't to sure about them but she quickly warmed up to them and enjoyed petting them.

Tough Little Cookie

The past two weeks Katie has looked pretty tough. First off she was playing with one of her toys while I was doing the dishes and decided she wanted to head butt it. This was the result...

Then a few days later after she grabbed one of the cats. Here is the result of that action...

Today she was very happy that Sping is coming. When ever she is extremely happy her hands move like crazy (as you can tell from the blurs.) She will definitely be someone who talks with her hands.

Last weekend she was able to meet her Great Grandfather. He is on the right side of the picture. She is wearing her uncles sunglasses here. What you cant see is that she wasn't very happy wearing them.

JOB!!!!

Well, things are starting to look up for Adam. He was hired as a graphic designer and starts tomorrow. He went a little over 3 months without a job. It was tough but it did bring us closer together and it made it so Katie and him could develop a wonderful daddy daughter relationship. I am happy that he had the opportunity to do that.

They are so cute together. This is one of their walks around the yard. She is not at all scared being up that high. She LOVES it.

St Patty's Day Parade

On Saturday we went to the St Patty's Day Parade. Adam drove the bus in the parade, which he does every year. The St Patty's Day Parade is one of the few Parades that the El Kalah Shrine bring out the bus. Usually Adam and his brothers will ride around in their flying carpets. Its a lot of fun to go support him in his Masonic activities.
After the parade we went to the Masonic Temple to have a corn beef and cabbage lunch which we have done for the past few years. While we were there one of Adams Masonic Brothers came and grabbed Katie, which is normal. Everyone knows they can just grab her and have fun with her. She definetly doesnt have the "stranger danger" thoughts process. So after about 20 min she was returned but she had been kissed by an Irishman.

She is our little good luck charm

Hanging out at the babysitters

So since I am working in the evenings and Adam has all his Masonic functions it can sometimes be hard to find a babysitter that lives close or that Katie knows. So on Saturday I was sitting at work and realized that I had to work Monday night which was Lodge for Adam and I hadn't lined up a babysitter yet. Thankfully one of Adams Masonic brothers was hanging out at the house and his wife offered to babysit. Katie loved it. She sang songs, played games and made a mess of her carrots. Thank goodness for good friends that love my daughter and don't mind a mess.
